A-kili Foundation Empowerment Centre (AFEC)
Community Empowerment centre was started in mid 2014 with the objective of providing skill training to the community members and enabling them to be economically sufficient and reliable to themselves and their families. The centre admits anyone not based on academic papers rather those with passion to change their lives through practical skills. The centre offers practical skills and also encourages the leaners to start up their projects and businesses on their own. For example we have students learning about hairdressing and carpentry and we have two of them coming up to set up their own saloons and hairdressing businesses in the local trading centres.
The centre has trained over 50 community members in the following areas; computer skills, tailoring, carpentry and hairdressing. The following are the courses reflected in the business plan includes; Agribusiness, Hairdressing, Brick & Block Making, Carpentry, Cookery, Electrical, Knitting, Entrepreneurship, ICT, Masonry, Tailoring, Welding and Mechanical.
